Accommodation

Accommodation options in and near York for the RWNYC 2023

AirBnB usually works out ok if you want multiple rooms, there are plenty in the city centre.

The University has reasonably priced room only accommodation (around £78 a single and £90 a double), but book soon, they can currently offer us around 55 rooms in a single block on campus which is 30 mins walk from the centre, or a 10-15 minute bus ride.

Travelodges are popping up all over York. They’re always worth a look, be careful to consider whether the one you choose has parking. The new one in Layerthorpe would perhaps be my choice if you want to be in the centre but are coming by car. If budget is more important, then look slightly further afield, maybe Tadcaster  and drive the last half an hour on the day.

Premier Inn has a number of properties in and around York. Blossom St South and Blossom St North are good if you are coming by train, close to the station, but no parking. Bilbrough Top, between York and Tadcaster (less than half an hour away) is cheaper and has parking.

Booking.com has loads of options, again you are advised to book early.

York has a YHA Youth Hostel, it’s about 20-30 minutes walk from the Minster

There are also a number of other hostels in York providing budget accommodation close to the city centre Astor House and Safestay look good.

Pitchup is a good website offering plenty of camping options within 10 miles of York
